Ingredients
Small onion - 25 to 30
Red Chillies - 10 to 15 as per ur taste
Mustard seeds - 2 + 2 tsp
Broken urad dhal - 4 tsp
Curry leaves
Oil - 1/2 + 1 tbs
Tamarind. - One pinch
Preparation
Heat one tbsp of oil, add mustard seeds, when it splutters, add urad dal and red chillies. Fry until dal turns light brown. Remove from oil. Transfer it to a plate and allow to cool little.
In the same oil, add skin pealed small onions and saute until it turns pink.
Today i used Big onion, since now small onion is very costly in Chennai. chutney tasted good with big onion itself. But if we use small onion taste will be excellent.
add the tamarind piece and saute for 2-3 seconds and then switch of the flame.
Transfer it to a plate and allow it to cool.
Then add everything in a mixie cup and grind to a smooth paste by adding salt.
Heat a tsp of oil, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, when mustard splutters, pour the seasoning over the chutney.
This chutney is good combination for idly or dosai.
