Idly chilli fry

I have some left idles cooked yesterday night. So thought of making something different instead of usual upma. Though I have prepared idly manchurian which is more oily, I want to try same with less oil. Modified version of idly dry manchurian is idly chilli fry, which came out very tasty today. Kids loved it so much. This is delicious mouth watering recipe. Even we can make this with freshly prepared idlies. So please try and give your comments.

  1. Left over idly - 3
  2. Garam masala powder  1/2 tsp
  3. Coriander powder    1tsp
  4. Cumin powder         1/4 tsp
  5. Red chilli powder     1/2 tsp
  6. Turmeric powder      1/2 tsp
  7. Amchur powder        1/4 tsp
  8. Chat masala or pav baj
  9. Masala powder.        1 to 1 1/2 tsp
  10. Lime  juice.                1tsp
  11. Curd 3 tbs
  12. Oil as needed
  13. salt to taste

Method

Cut each idly in to eight pieces. In a wide bowl mix, all powders, curd, lime juice, salt and oil. Marinate cut idlies  in this mix for half an hour.  In a broad pan sprinkle oil all over and place idly pieces all over. Fry well till all sides of roasted well. You can deep fry this, but that may consume more oil. Hence better to shallow fry which consumes less oil and not much difference in taste too. Transfer to serving plate. Sprinkle chat masala or pepper and serve hot with any sauce.
