Mullangi kootu

    Since I am bored up with using raddish for making sambar and chappathi, I want to try some traditional dish using raddish. Today prepared karnakizhangu kulambu for lunch, so thought of making kootu using raddish. I worried little how the result would be. But it came so perfect. I myself doesn't expect that this will come out this much tasty. Try this and comment.

Ingredients
Onion - 1 nicely chopped
Radish  - 3 Medium sizes
Moong Dhal - 2 tbs
Coriander seeds - 1tsp
Garam Dhal - 1tsp
Red Chilly - 3
Grated Coconut - 2 tsp 
Curry leaves - few
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urad Dhal - 1tap
Ground nut 2 tsp
Oil - little


Method
  1. Peel the radish skin and wash is it in water. Then chop it to small cubes.
  2. Pressure cook moong dal, groundnut and radish with turmeric powder and salt.
  3. Heat some oil in pan, add red chilli, gram dal, coriander seeds and fry till the gram dal changes to golden brown color. Remove from flame and grind to powder it in mixer
  4. Grind the grated coconut  to a nice paste.
  5. Heat some oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, when the mustard seeds starts to sputter, add urad dal , ground nut and Onion, fry till it turns golden brown color
  6. To this add broken curry leaves and cooked dhal and raddish and mix well.
  7. Add water if necessary to make it to a kootu consistency
  8. When the kootu starts to boil, remove from flame.
  9. Tasty radish kootu is ready to serve with Puli kulambu or sambar or chappathi.
