Good Morning Friends.... Being Friday, today prepared Our traditional recipe Kummayam .... This is normally prepared as prasad for God Krishna...... I learnt this from mother in law....
One interesting story behind this dish..Once there lived a great devotee, Vishnu Chittar, known as Peirya Azhwar, he imagined himself as Mother of Lord Krishna and feeding her son Krishna and he wrote a poetry about , he wrote about that experience as “…after having devoured kummayam with butter, and having emptied the curd pot, and also having destroyed the asuras – demons – you pose like an innocent baby in front of me. I doubt if you are my son and I am terrified to even feed you!”....... So Kummayam was offered as food to Baby Krishna..... So this is very healthy food for babies (1+ age).......
I prepare this dish, without deviating originality of the dish...100% traditional..... That to it is very old age recipe... So you can not, no cashwenuts, cardamon etc added. Even in traditional recipe they don't add ghee, but they had it with butter while Eating....
Recipe is.....
Ingredients
Green gram dhal - 2 cups
Raw rice - 1/2 cup
Urad dhal - 1/4 cup ( i actually added one cup to make it more healthy)
Palm sugar - 1/2 cup
Jaggery - 1 cup
Water - as needed
Ghee or seasame oil - 2 tbs
Method
Dry Roast, 2 cups of split green gram dhal, 1/2 cup of raw rice, 1/4 cup of urad dhal , seperately, and powder it and keep it in airtight container, you can use this at any time....preparation method is so easy... Just boil jaggery and palm sugar in water....when water dissolved, add the powder, mix well, keep on stirring continuously in medium flame, add little ghee , again stir, till it become thick and shiny and started to leave the sides of the pan.... Pour it in grease plate, eat it by adding butter or ghee...... Since i don't have time, I didn't sieve the powder, so if your sieve and use very fine powder, texture will be more beautiful..... Prepared in so hurry , so no time for taking snap, somehow managed....
