Small onions - 1 cup
Chopped tomatoes - 1/2 cup
Red chillies - 12 to 15
Garlic pods - 2
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dhal - 3 tsp
Hing powder - 1 pinch
Salt and oil as needed
Recipe
In a pan add oil, season with mustard seeds, the add urad dhal, fry well, then add red chillies and hing powder, fry well and remove from pan, allow to cool.
In the same pan, add oil, add small onions, saute well, add garlic too, saute well till onion turns pink, then add tomatoes, saute well till it cooked well... Remove and allow to cool...
Now grind adding salt along with onion, tomatoes, garlic and red chillies, not much nice, better if it is bit coarse... Lastly add seasoned mustard seeds, urad dhal, hingpowder, just pulse for one second so that urad dhal remains coarse in chutney which will add unique taste to the chutney...
Serve with idly, dosa, paniyaram, it goes well with all....
