Barley Soup

I came to know about Barley during my seventh month of pregnancy.... My both legs swollen up... So my mother in law prepared barely kanji and gave to me adding butter.... I never like its bland taste... For to satisfy my mother in law i used to drink it, just closing my eyes... She daily prepare this and used to give to me.... Later only i came to know about health benefits of Barely...

Before explaining the health benefits, let me tell the  precautions you should take while using barely... First wash barely well in water many times and soak it over night before cooking.... Because it usually take more time to cook... If you take this uncooked, it may create stomach upset, so cook it well...  Before cooking, please filter the soaked water, never use soaked water for cooking.... Please never take this daily, first start with once in a week , then can increase .... 

Benefits of barely

1. Lowers cholestrol level
2. It has mineral copper which helps in formation of hemoglobin needed for the production of RBC.
3. It has anti ageing agents.
4. Helps in weight reduction..
5. During pregancy time it prevents swollen ankle and feet by improving circulation and preventing high BP.
6. Prevents gallstones
7. Controls sugar levels.

Ok let us now come to the recipe

Ingredients

Barely -  2 tbs
Water - 4 cups
Salt or brown sugar - as needed

Method

As i told above, soak barely over night, filter water and pressure cook it using 4 cups of water.  Allow it to cool. Filter water. My mother in law just gave this to me adding one tsp of butter. Pregnant ladies can try this..

For diet recipe, just filter water and make a paste out of rice by running in mixie cup... Now mix this paste with fitered wate. Heat it in medium flame for three minutes or till it begins to boil, add salt or brown sugar and serve hot.

Healthy barley kanji is ready...
