Banana stem soup

I love banana stem in any form. It is very rich in fibre. It is very good for treatment of kidney stones. It helps in weight loss too. It gives cooling effect to body. Mostly we prepare poriyal using vazhathandu. Sometimes i prepare curd pachadi too. That too tastes so nice. So here goes the recipe for healthy soup.



Ingredients

Banana stem - 1 cup ( chopped)
Split yellow moong dhal - 1 tbs
Onion - 2 ( optional)
Bay leaf - 1
Fennel seeds - 1 tsp
Pepper powder - 1 tsp
Salt - for taste
Butter or oil - 1 tsp

Method

Cut banana stem into large pieces. In pressure pan add oil or butter  then add bay leaf, fennel seeds, then onion, then banana stem, saute for few minutes... Add one cups of water, moong dhal and pressure cook for two whistles. When it is cooled down, grind it in mixie cup.... Add one or two cups of water, drain liquid alone. Then boil soup in same pressure pan for two minutes, add necessary salt and pepper and switch off the flame. Serve hot.

Can add lemon, but first try without lemon and taste the oringinal taste of banana stem.
