Snake gourd more kootan

I saw this recipe few months back in a TV channel, a famous carnatic singer, who is act in balanchander serials too ( sorry didnt remember her name) narrated the recipe... At that time i wondered more kootan with snake gourd.... Main thing that attracted me is , she cut the veggie in big circle shape, which we normally wont do... I registered that alone in mind, since my attention deviated to other works, disnt notice the recipe fully.... From that day i wanted to try it and atlast that day came... I tried normal more kootan recipe by adding snake gourd as shown in tv show.... Everyone loved its taste,,,. 



Ingredients

Snake gourd - 2 medium size
Tumeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Red chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
Curd - 1 1/2 cup

To grind

Cocnut scraps - 1/2 cup
Green chilli- 2 
Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp

For seasoning

Oil- 2 tsp ( coocnut oil gives better flavour)
Mustard seeds- 1/4 tsp
Dry red chillies - 2
Curry leaves- a large sprig

Method

Cut the snake gourd into big round shapes... Cook it adding water, turmeric powder, red chilli powder... Since we sliced big, it will take sometime, cook till it become soft...


Grind the ingredients mentioned under grind. Add this grinded mix to the cooked veggie... When it boils well, add the beaten curd with salt... Mix well....When it just begin to boil, switch off the flame.

Then season with ingredients mentioned under seasoning and pour over the mix...

Podalanga more kootan ready to serve.
