Ragi puttu

This also another easy morning breakfasts recipe. This recipe is easy only if we buy the ragi puttu flour available in the stores. As far as the idiyappam , puttu flours concerned , among those available in chennai,  Nirapara flour gives best results. Here I used nirpara ragi puttu flour and puttu came very well. While preparing this I don't have time to take photos in stepwise and even to take photo but somehow managed  to get some clicks,

Ingredients

Ragi puttu flour - 1/2 kg
Sugar - as needed
Salt - 1/4 tsp
Ghee
Coconut - 1

Method

This is like rice flour puttu. Instead of filling rice flour, we are adding ragi flour. Wet ragi flour with required quantity of water, by sprinkling water little by little , add salt also. Mix for 5 min to obtain desired consistency. Neither it should be sticky, nor it should be dry. Transfer the mix into puttu maker  ( i used kuzhai puttu maker ) , first put coconut gratings, then add ragi mix till half, then add coconut, then again ragi mix and again at the top coconiut gratings. In short, coconut gratings should be added alternatively. Place the kuzha puttu maker on flame, cook for 5-10min. When steam comes out of the holes in the lid, it is meant that puttu cooked. When it is finished cooking, remove the cylindrical portion and push out the puttu with stick from the maker to plate and serve with curries or sugar.
