Today's breakfast..... Moore Kali and stuffed milagai baji.... Milagai baji first time prepared today.... Usually I avoid preparing baji since it is oil item.... But today morning hubby bought baji milagai while purchasing vegetables...,, so I ended in preparing potato masala stuffed baji milagai..... My first try of both these items ended good.... Tastes so good such that I prepared baji, clicked snaps by placing it in table and went inside kitchen to carry out some works, when I come back I can't found any baji and bonda in the plate except one, I think being felt pity on me my family left one baji for me....I too didn't worry because taking less oil item is good for my health.... I prepared bonda using remaining potato masala prepared for stuffing baji milagai... With remaining baji batter, I added chopped onion and prepared onion bakoda,,,,, though tastes good, I think I should make shape of baji still more perfect....
Ingredients
Milagai baji - 10
Potato - 5
Green chillies - 2
Chilli powder - 2 tbs
Coriander powder - 1 tbs
Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves - few
Besan flour - one cup
Rice flour - 1/4 cup
Cooking soda - one pinch ( optional)
Oil and salt as needed
Method
Wash baji milagai, dry it with cloth, cut middle without breaking into two, remove seeds inside to reduce kaaram....keep aside, now prepare stuffing, pressure cook potato, mash it with masher, add finely cut green chilies, curry leaves, chilli powder, coriander powder, gram masala, turmeric powder, mix everything well, fill this masala inside the baji milagai.... Use either ready made baji mix... Other wise, for one cup of besan flour, add 1/4 cup of rice flour, chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, little cooking soda( optiona), mix everything well, batter should be bit thick, immerse stuffed baji milagai in this batter and deep fry in oil....in the photo you can, how stuffed milagai looks before frying...... Stuffing you can try different ways, whatever, which goes with your taste or even without stuffing can prepare baji....Serve hot with chutney or sauce.
