Raw rice - 1 cup ( you can use basmathi rice for better results)
White Channa or chick peas- 1 cup
Onion - 2 - chopped lengthwise
Green Chilli - 2 slit
coconut milk - 1 cup
Water - 1 cup
Lemon juice - 1 tbs
Red Chilli powder -1 tsp
Garam masala powder -1 tsp
Fennel seeds - 1 tsp
Cloves -2
Cinnamon - 2 inch piece
Cardamom -1
Bay leaf - 1/2 of small leaf
Salt as needed
Oil as needed

Method

Soak white channa overnight, Pressure cook it by adding very little salt.

Soak rice for 1/2 hour in water. Drain water . Then add a tsp of ghee in pan, add 1 clove and 1 inch cinnamon and fry the rice for a few minutes and keep aside. This is done to give rich flavour to rice.

Then in a pan add ghee, add seasoning items like, fennel seeds, cloves, cinnamon stick, bay leaf, sauté for few minutes. Then add onion, fry it well till it turns pink. Then add green chillies, fry for one more minute. Then add ginger garlic paste, sauté well till nice aroma comes. Now add cooked channa, red chilli powder, garam masala powder and salt needed. Saute for few minutes. Then add coconut milk, when it begin to boil, add rice, salt, lemon juice, transfer the contents to pressure pan and pressure cook it for one whistle and keep in sim for five minutes and switch of the flame. When steam reduced, open the pan, transfer the pulav into a broad vessel and disperse it with fork... Then decorate with roasted onions and serve hot with any grave or raita.. Today I prepared mixed vegetable raita.
