Amla rasam

As I already mentioned, Amla has so many health benefits. So we need to include it in our diet regularly. Earlier we have seen the recipe for chutney using Amla. Now we can try rasam or soup usng this Amla. We can drink it like soup or use it with rice like rasam.


Ingredients

Amla / Nellikai - 5 
Cumin power - 1 tsp
Pepper powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Green chillies - 4
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
Thoor dhal water - 1/2 cup
Curry leaves - 10
Coriander leaves - Few.

For seasoning

Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Asafetida - pinch

Method

Cut the Amla into fine pieces and grind it in mixie cup adding water. Extract juice from it like we extract coconut milk. Keep it aside. Extract water of thoor dhal , add pepper powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, salt to this water and kept it aside. In a pan add oil and season with items mentioned under seasoning. Heat the pan and add oil. When it is hot add items mentioned under seasoning. Add curry leaves green chillies, ginger garlic paste and asafetida. Fry till nice aroma comes. Add thoor dhal water to it and amla jucie to it. When it just begins to boil, switch off the flame. Add Coriander leaves and serve.
