As all of you know am very fond of preparing variety rices for lunch boxes, I ended in trying all possible combinations.... This cabbage rice i saw in a tv program and tried immediately. Came out so tasty.
Ingredients
Raw rice - 1 cup
Onion - 1
Cabbage - 2 cups or 1/4 Kg ( can increase or decrease as per ur taste)
For paste
Fried gram - 3 tsp
Ginger - 1 inch piece
Coconut - 1/4 cup
Green chillies - 5
Coriander leaves - one bunch
Curry leaves - few
For seasoning
Oil - 2 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dhal - 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Channa dhal - 1/2 tsp
Red chillies - 2
Method
For cabbage rice, first cook the rice and allow it to cool
Then grind coconut, fried gram, ginger, green chillies, one bunch coriander leaves into fine paste. Keep aside.
In a pan add oil, season with mustard seeds, urad dhal, cumin seeds, channa dhal, red chillies, then add onion, fry well, then add cabbage, sauté will till it become crunchy or looses all its water, then add grinded paste... Sauté well till nice aroma arises, mix this with cooled rice, salt and keep in low flame sauté well till rice becomes hot.... Add curry leaves and switch off the flame.
Serve hot ... Can add cashewnuts too... Tastes so nice ... Please try and give you feed back.
