Ragi idly

Today's breakfast In our home isRagi idly, murunga keerai chutney ( drumstick leaves chutney), carrot halwa.


Normally everyone makes ragi idly using ragi flour. Yesterday I too prepared instant oats idly. But instead of instant recipe if you try real version of idly, it will be very healthy and kids too will eat it without any hesitation....idly will be very soft without adding cooking soda etc etc... Ragi, kambu etc, you can follow this method and prepare idly which is be more tasty than instant one. 



Ingredients


Idly rice - 2 cups

Ragi millet - 1 cup

Urad dhal - 1 cup

Salt and water as needed


Method


For two cups of idly rice, add one cup of ragi millet and soak together for four or more hours , urad dhal 1 cup, soak for one hour. First grind urad dhal, then grind rice and ragi millet coarsely. Mix both batter by adding salt. Allow to ferment for for 6 to 8 hours and prepare idly in the idly mould.


Serve hot with any green chutney.
