Nendram pazham nurukku

This is a Kerala Special snacks which I have been thinking of trying from long back... But just today get time to prepare it... Yesterday when I went to market, purchased Nendram pazham... Very easy to prepare...healthy too... This is my first try.... I never tasted this, but some of my Kerala friends posted this recipe many times, from them I learnt this...

Ingredients

Nebdram pazham  - 4
Jaggery - crushed - 4 tbs
Ghee - 4 tsp
Cardamon powder - 1 tsp

Method

Cut top and bottom portion of the plantain.... Don't remove the skin .. Cut each plantain into three pieces... Steam it either in idly pan or pressure pan for 10 minutes without putting whistle.. Or direct in pan... When it is half cooked, switch off the flame... Remove the skin...

Immerse jaggery powder in water, when jaggery completely dissolved in water, switch off the flame.

Hereafter you can follow either one of the following two steps

1) In a pan add ghee and deep fry the cooked plantains .... Then put this in the jaggery syrup and place in flame in medium flame till plantains fully coated with sugar syrub and syrub become thick..
Lastly add cardamon powder, mix well and switch off the flame... Serve..

          Or

2) Without deep frying directly put the cooked plantains in the sugar syrub and follow above step...
