Sabari mala kadala curry

This is the recipe given by the chef Damodharan in a magazine. He told every years he goes to the sabarimalai temple , at that time this kadala curry is supplied along with parotta and this combination is very famous there... This is very simple version of kadala curry... When I posted this recipe in a food group, some told onion is not used in sabarimalai... Hence those who don't want onion, may avoid that and prepare..

Ingredients

Black channa - 1 cup
Red chilli powder - 2 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Onion, chopped - 2 tsp
Curry leaves - few
Salt, water, oil - as needed

Method

Soak black channa overnight, pressure cook it in the morning, in a pan add oil. then add cumin seeds, when it splutters, add onion, curry leaves, fry well, then add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, channa cooked water or water, salt and allow to cook for few minutes, then mash half of the cooked channa either in hand or pulse it for one second in mixie cup, add it to the boiling mix,  then add remaining channa too, allow to boil for two more minutes, then switch off and serve...
