Aappam ( without yeast or cooking soda)

Aappam with coconut milk is our favourite combo for breakfast. I used fo make it atleast once in a week... That too in earlier days we used to make it normal iron pan.... For thatbatter should be perfect, otherwise it will stick to kadai, we will find it difficult to take it out, need to apply oil etc.... But that used to be more tastier.....but after introduction of apam non stick pan, nowadays it become so easier...
So we shall fo to the recipe...


Ingredients

Raw rice - 1 cup
Par boiled rice - 1 cup
Poha or cooked ricie - one hand full
Urad dhal - 3 tbs
Fenugreek seeds - 2 tsp
Salt and water as required.

Method

Soak both rice together for six hours....soak urad dhal, fenugreek seeds, poha for one hour... Grind everything together adding salt. Ferment it for 7 to 8 hours.  Heat no stick appam pan or any non stick kadai, pour batter in it and roate the pan using handles at both side, then cook it covered. If you want to make it more crispier, may allow it to cook in sim flame for more time. You will get perfect appam.

Serve hot with coconut milk or kadala curry or any chutney
